The Ventura County Indian Education Consortium is a Title VI federally funded program, with addition financial support from our partner districts, providing direct services to American Indian and Alaskan Native students in grades TK-12 in the following Ventura County School Districts and Charter Schools:

Conejo Valley Unified School District, Hueneme Elementary School District, Fillmore Unified School District, Moorpark Unified School District, Oak Park Unified School District, Ojai Unified School District, Oxnard School District, Oxnard Union High School District, Pleasant Valley School District, Rio School District, Simi Valley Unified School District, Ventura Unified School District (LEA), ACE Charter, CAPE Charter, MATES Charter, Vista Real Charter, and Ventura Charter.

Your child may be eligible to enroll in the Title VI Indian Education Program of the VCIEC if you, your child or his/her grandparent are an enrolled member of an American Indian tribe, band or group or Alaskan Native tribe or corporation or if you, your child or a grandparent have a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)..

Calendar of School Site Lesson Visits

Indian Education teaching staff hold regular visits at most consortium partner district schools. School visits include grade appropriate lessons based on an annual theme and cover topics in the areas of Indian studies, counseling, career and college awareness, scholarship information and other resources for Native American students.

Managed by the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF), tax deductible donations of any amount can be made to the Indian Education Scholarship Fund through the VCCF website. Please list Indian Education Scholarship Fund as the donation purpose and fund name. Donors will be recognized at our annual end of the year Honoring Ceremony. Our students thank you for your generous donation!

Enrolled Indian education seniors who plan to attend college, trade or vocational school beginning fall of the coming school year are eligible to apply for a $500 Indian Education Scholarship.

Applications, transcripts, and essays must be submitted by the first of February during the student's senior year. Reference letters (sent by the referring individual) can be mailed or emailed to the address below and are due at the same time. Applications can be submitted in one of the following ways:

The Parent Committee meets about once a month throughout the school year.
Meetings are held in person at either the Ventura Unified School District office or at another location in Ventura County, as appropriate, and virtually on Microsoft Teams.
All regular meetings are open to the public.
Members serve a term of two years and can serve multiple terms.
At the first meeting of the school year (in August or September) new members are elected by parents and family members of enrolled students who are in attendance.
Members can join at any time, space permitting.
