Newcomers

Welcome to VUSD!

We are proud that students who are newcomers join our school community each year. In VUSD, we value every student’s unique background, culture, and language. All students belong here, and we are committed to making sure our students feel safe, supported, and included from day one. Our team has a clear plan in place to help all multilingual learners succeed—academically, socially, and emotionally. We hope you will join your site’s Multilingual Learner Advisory Committee (MLAC) and other affinity groups. From our on-boarding in August to our reclassification celebration at the end of the year, we’re excited to learn and grow together with our students who are recent arrivals to the United States.
