Parent/Guardian Involvement

The DELAC advises the VUSD Board of Education on programs for English Learner students. We do this by looking at the programs at each school, discussing student achievement results, and then preparing a presentation for the Board of Education. Meetings are held in Spanish, interpretation in English or another language can be accommodated if requested.  

The English Learner Advisory Committee advises the principal and staff on the development of the English Learner section of the school plan. This takes place at ELAC meetings. For more information view our ELAC brochure. If you are interested in involvement, please contact your school site. 

The state's new local control funding formula is bringing sweeping changes to the ways schools are funded and how K-12 districts are held accountable. The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a required component of the new funding formula.  The District's LCAP will be written and developed with input from parents, staff, students and community members. The PAC advises the VUSD staff on the needs of our students and families. They provide feedback on various initiatives and programs. In addition, they communicate important District information back to their school sites and share it widely to keep the community updated.  If you are interested in being involved, please contact your school for more information. 

The Special Education District Advisory Committee (SEDAC) is another way for families to get involved.  This committee is focused on the needs of our students who are a part of our Special Education programs.  For more information visit the Special Education webpage.
