Planning & Regulatory

Currently working on Williams Inspections & Classroom Usage Reports. This Division is already planning next summer's construction! Summer projects take a considerable amount of planning and coordination.

Look at what happened this summer...

Summer 2014 - Accomplished

  • New portables at Will Rogers Elementary
  • Portable reconfiguration at Mound Elementary
  • Roofing at Pacific High School
  • Asphalt at DATA & J.Serra Elementary
  • Flooring at Buna High School, Montalvo Elementary's Kitchen, Cabrillo Middle School's Kitchen & at Loma Vista Elementary
  • Complete plumbing infrastructure at Poinsettia Elementary
  • Front door/Entrance replacement at the Education Service Center
  • Artificial Turf replacement at Buena High School & Ventura High School Stadiums

The Operations / Grounds Division enjoyed a productive summer improving our many District sites. The following list highlights several of our successful projects:

  • Many of our trees were thinned for beautification and future growth. Several diseased District trees were removed for risk reduction. Additionally, replacement trees were planted at many sites. Individual tree watering bags are utilized to ensure all new trees thrive.
  • Our Integrated Pest Management Technicians proactively treated all sites for a variety of pests.
  • Decorative and moisture conserving mulch was added to many District planter beds.
  • Our Irrigation Technician worked diligently in keeping our lawns and fields in good condition.
  • All fields and lawns were aerated; this will ensure that our limited water supply is best utilized.
  • Lawns that had heavy wear were seeded and fertilized as part of campus beautification.
  • All sites received extensive landscaping renovations in preparation of the 2017-18 school year.
  • This summer saw many program and teacher moves completed by the grounds division. There were also many obsolete and transferring materials processed.
  • Specialty gardening equipment has been purchased to enhance our finished product.

All in all a great summer for the grounds division, we take pride in providing our students and staff a safe and inviting environment for learning.

The custodians had a busy summer and were able to deep clean all the rooms & handle items that routine cleaning doesn't allow for during school session.  Just a few of these items include...

  • Carpet cleaning
  • Floor stripping/buffing/waxing
  • High Dusting
  • Cleaning Walls
  • Furniture Cleaning (i.e. desks, shelves)
  • Outside of buildings brushed off (spider web's & such)
  • Classroom moves (when teachers change classes)

As with the other divisions, custodians at school sites are also able to utilize fall break to their advantage.  They are able to spend a little more attention to each room & be a little more thorough.
