A native Californian, Mr. Creswell was born and raised in the Long Beach area and is now returning to where he spent summers enjoying the beaches of Ventura as a child. As the fourth of five children, David chose a career in education and comes to Ventura with vast experience and knowledge, having successfully served as a teacher for eight years at both the junior high and high school levels, an assistant principal for two years, principal at the elementary, junior high and high school levels for ten years and most recently as an Associate Superintendent for over a decade.
In addition to his dedication to the education profession, he has experience in the building industry where he owned a construction company and built homes in the Southern California area. Mr. Creswell is a recognized Human Resources leader having received the Association of California School Administrators HR Administrator of the Year award for 2016. During the school year, it is not uncommon to see David reading stories to elementary students or chatting with junior high and high school students during lunchtime. He enjoys building relationships and connecting with all stakeholders who make a difference in the lives of students everyday. Mr. Creswell earned a bachelor’s degree at California State University, Long Beach, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Azusa Pacific University, and an Education Specialist degree at La Sierra University in Riverside, CA.
Mr. Creswell has a heart for serving with a non-profit organization that works to prevent human trafficking and has led several teams to Southeast Asia over the last seven years to work with at-risk children. David also values family and has been married to his wife Debra for 35 years. They have two children and one granddaughter. You may find him surfing, fishing or hiking when he has the opportunity.
