Although it appears that our schools are in good shape based on achievements by our students, our school facilities need to be improved.  The Ventura Unified School District covers an area of approximately 165 square miles in western Ventura County and includes the City of Ventura and surrounding areas.  With an enrollment of over 15,000 students, the District has 28 schools with education from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and Adult School.  A LONG RANGE FACILITIES MASTER PLAN 2020-2030  was adopted by the Board of Education on April 28, 2020 and was used to initially used to determine a priority projects list.  That list will be revisited during the upgrade and repair process.

Faced with aging classrooms and a need to bring school facilities up to current standards, the District placed Measure E on the November 2022 ballot to upgrade, modernize, and renovate the outdated schools.  We want to thank our voters for passing measure E.

The following information is provided to assist the community in understanding the facts behind Measure E and how its passage will affect the District and its residents.

As projects are listed please keep in mind that large repairs and upgrades that would impact the learning or safety of students will likely not begin until students are on break and not on campus. These types of considerations along with all of the approvals that each project must go through will impact the timing of when projects are considered, started, and completed.
