On Friday, July 17, with all of the facts, models, and input provided to them, the Ventura Unified School District Board of Education voted 5-0 to move the District to a distance-learning model for the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year with the direction to develop a model to bring students physically back to campuses in January 2021.
At the Oct. 13 Board of Education meeting, the Board voted 5-0 to move the TK-5 grades to a hybrid model. Allowing those students who wish to come back in-person to do so as of Dec. 7 and allowing for those not ready to return in-person to remain in a 100% distance learning model for the rest of the 2020-21 academic year. The District is currently registering TK-5 students into either the hybrid or distance learning model. More about the Hybrid model can be found on the Hybrid webpage and in the 2020-21 Elementary Re-Opening of In-Person Learning and Safety Plan.
At this time our middle and high school students will remain in a 100% distance learning model until the end of the first semester which is at the end of January 2021 as we decided in July. If something changes we will notify families.
