Health Education during preschool through high school enables pupils to:

make good health decisions
solve problems
resolve conflicts peacefully
say no to alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drugs
take responsibility for their own health and well-being

It is assists in the acquisition of knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that promote health and aid in the decision making relative to personal, family and community health issues.
Below is a summary of the concepts per the California Health Instruction Framework.

School districts are required to offer courses in:

Personal and public safety
Accident and Fire prevention
Protection and conservation of resources
Sexually transmitted diseases
Effects of alcohol, narcotics, drugs and tobacco on the human body
Health principles and practices of individual, family and community health
Sex education
Genetic diseases
Comprehensive health education including communicable diseases, emotional problems, selfmedication, nutritional disorders, child development, etc.
