A Message from the Principal

August 5, 2017

Dear PHS families and community,

Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year at Pacific High School. I am honored to serve as the new principal at Pacific High School. I have been an enthusiastic supporter of our students and staff for the last three years as the VUSD Program Specialist for After School Programs and as the PHS Coordinator for the Youth Activities ASSETS program. I look forward to serving you all in this new role as we prepare our students for graduation, college, and the 21st century work force.I am proud of the Pacific High School transformation these last three years. The teachers, counselors, and support staff have embraced Project Based Learning as our core curriculum focus and we have increased student credit-earning opportunities both during and after the school day. At Pacific high school, students enroll in periods 1-5 for the core academic program and are expected to also take advantage of the many other credit-earning opportunities available to them. These include our on-site Career Technical Education classes, off-site Career Technical Education classes (ROP), Ventura City College classes, and work study program. In addition to these options, students should take advantage of the additional credit-earning enrichment activities in the after-school Youth Activities ASSETS program. These include art, STEM/STEAM, physical education & personal fitness, cooking and more. I look forward to greeting our students on the first day of school, Wednesday August 23rd. The auditorium opens at 7:15am for breakfast. Youth Activities will be open and students are encouraged to arrive early to eat a healthy breakfast and to socialize in a safe, supervised recreational environment. Please be sure to attend one of our registration and orientation options with your student on:

Wednesday, August 16th at 12:00, 2:00 or 5:00p.m.
Thursday, August 17th at 12:00, 2:00 or 5:00 p.m.
Friday, August 18th at 12:00, 2:00 or 5:00 p.m.

Thank you for supporting your student as they work towards their 2017-2018 education goals. I look forward to serving the PHS students, families, staff, and community this year.
