About PHS's Homeroom

Pacific High School has designed a Lower Campus for 9th & 10th grade students and an Upper Campus for 11th & 12th grade students.  We believe in one period of daily homeroom advisory.

Teacher and students address concerns, celebrate accomplishments, listen to guest speakers, and work independently. Every three weeks, the homeroom teacher records a student's overall academic progress. Earning 5 credits every 3 weeks is the expected pace.  Homeroom teachers determine the Credit Recovery Units to be assigned.

After Homeroom, students complete their 5 period academic day by attending 4 periods of core academic classes via whole group instruction.  Partial credits are awarded if necessary.

The ability to earn credits after the instructional day are also explored, including Credit Recovery Units, classes at Ventura College, ROP, Work Experience, Adult Education, online learning, and Community Service projects.  This is coordinated with their counselor, as well. Parents are invited, welcomed, and urged to make frequent contact with their student’s homeroom teacher and/or counselor.

Enrollment Orientation

After being referred to and accepted at PHS, students and a parent/guardian attend an enrollment orientation on campus.

Newly enrolled students begin in the Transition Program. This afternoon class is held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Students transfer to the morning program at the next Quarter.  The purpose of the Transition Program is to clarify school expectations and rules while earning credits for graduation. Sack lunch is provided.
