Spanish Lessons at Mound

Global Citizens respect and value diversity, and one way to do that is to learn another language. By learning a second (or third) language, Mound students gain communication skills, cultural knowledge, and empathy for those who migrate to other countries. The students who already speak Spanish become leaders in their classes during the weekly lessons. The goal of Mound's Spanish program is to give students a foundation and familiarity with the language as well as an education about Spanish-speaking cultures of the world. Spanish teacher Crystal Cahuantzi uses Symtalk, a symbols-based curriculum that develops visual memory.
