EP Foster is a school where we hold high expectations for student learning.
Students will achieve success based on state tests and local measures, as well as on-going authentic assessments
Each child will be a reader, a writer, a thinker, and a capable solver of mathematical problems, and be motivated to set challenging goals for her/his future
Frequently, students will work in groups and interact as learners together
Children will be taught to think critically and apply their learning to personal experience
Students will be consistently engaged in work that is challenging, meaningful, and interesting
Children will be encouraged to express themselves through a variety of media
Attendance will be high, and children will want to be at school
EP Foster is a safe, clean, and orderly school.
Procedures will be followed to guarantee student safety above all
Staff will maintain high expectations for student behavior at all times
Children will demonstrate self control, take responsibility, and use I-Care language to form bonds
Grounds and classes will be clean, cheerful, and well-maintained
Learning time will be efficiently planned to maximize student opportunity to learn
Interactions between staff and students will be respectful and positive
EP Foster is a school to be proud of.
All members of the community will exhibit a zest for learning and a respect for others
Each child will be healthy and happy, and see her/himself as an important member of the learning community
All staff and students will contribute to keeping the campus clean, vibrant, and attractive
We will enjoy ceremonies that celebrate our learning as a community
EP Foster is a school that supports learning for all children
Support staff-resource teacher, literacy coach, safety net teachers, counselor, and psychologist-will help teachers discover best ways to meet the diverse needs of all learners
Children will have access to the books and materials they need to learn
Through assemblies, school visits and field trips, children will enjoy exposure to the many places, people, art, and ideas that exist in the world outside of the school
Children will have opportunities to participate in a variety of games and activities on the playground
We will persevere and celebrate successes
EP Foster is a learning place for adults, too.
Adults will model a positive attitude toward learning
Teachers will have access to a wide variety of high quality materials and resources
Teachers and students will engage in the learning process together
Time will be appropriated so that teachers will share ideas and learn together
Teachers will participate in the decision-making process
EP Foster is a school where families and the community can contribute
We will communicate our high expectations to students, families, and the community
Parents will receive training so that they can contribute to the learning community
Parents will participate openly and widely in PTA and school-improvement efforts
Staff will organize materials and trainings to assist in the hard job of parenting
