Introduction
Remy Munro, curator of the Medieval History, is seeking experts in the field of Medieval history to help him get started rebuilding his museum. Since he has a chance to redesign the top floors of the building, he has decided to add a special wing that will include electronic presentations of Medieval history. He has come to you specifically because of your knowledge of the Middle Ages and your excellent PowerPoint skills.
Task
In teams of three to four, you will use your knowledge to recreate a specific aspect of Medieval history for Mr. Munro and the museum. To be sure that you capture your topic thoroughly and accurately, your group will be responsible for creating the following: summary of the topic, definitions of key terms, cause-and-effect chart, point-of-view and informative writing, and quiz questions and putting them together in a detailed and illustrative PowerPoint presentation. You will research one of the topics listed below.

Process
Once your group has selected one of the standard topics, you will all research that topic using print (library books, magazines, textbook) and electronic (Internet) resources. Focus on the details below each topic to guide your research.
1. GEOGRAPHY OF EUROPE:
Describe its location, land, waterways, vegetation, & climate.
Explain the ways of life in Medieval Europe.
2. SPREAD OF CHRISTIANITY:
Describe the spread of Christianity north of the placeAlps.
Explain how the early church & monasteries helped it spread after the placeWestern Roman Empire fell.
3. FEUDALISM:
Describe the development of feudalism, the hierarchy of society it created, and how it affected trade.
Explain the role of the manor and growth of towns.
4. POPE VS. KING:
Explain the conflict and cooperation between the popes and kings during medieval times
(ex. King Charlemagne & Pope Leo III / Pope Gregory VII & Emperor Henry IV).
5. ENGLISH LAW & DEMOCRACY:
Describe the following developments in law: Magna Carta, parliament, & habeas corpus.
How were these developments important in the rise of democracy?
6. CRUSADES:
Discuss the causes and course of the religious Crusades.
Describe the effects of the Crusades on the Christian, Muslim and Jewish populations in placeEurope.
7. BLACK DEATH:
Map the spread of the bubonic plague from Central Asia to country-regionChina, the Middle East, and placeEurope.
Describe its impact on worldwide population.
8. CATHOLIC CHURCH:
Explain the importance of the Catholic Church as a political (role of clergy in government), intellectual (founding of universities), and aesthetic (art) institution?
9. RECONQUISTA (RECONQUEST):
Explain the decline of Muslim rule in the placeIberian Peninsula that concluded with the Reconquest.

After you have finished your project, Mssr. Munro will be grading you according to the following rubric. It's a good idea to look at the rubric before you begin, so you understand what's expected of you.
