We are so excited to have you!
This year your student will grow and learn so much. While initially it may seem impossible that they will read music and play an instrument by Winter Break, it will happen.
We ask that you support your student's journey in music by encouraging her/him to practice regularly. If problems come up, there are lots of parents and older students that are available to help.
Here are some very important tools to help your student be successful:
CMS Music Handbook
Please download the Cabrillo Music Handbook that has important information including...

Practicing Your Instrument
The key to succession and growth in music is practice, practice, practice. Here are the key components to making sure your practice time is effective: (You can find more helpful tips in the CMS handbook.)
Time: Schedule a time period in your day to practice. This should be at the same time everyday. Example: 7:00-7:30 AM and 5:00-5:30 PM.
Place: The practice environment needs to be quiet and comfortable. It should be an area that is free from distractions.
Tools: Firm chair, good stand, tuner, and metronome.
And be sure to fill out your practice sheets... they count towards your grade! Click the link below to print out for class.
