SENIORS – Do you want to win fabulous prizes at the ice cream social? In order to be entered into the drawing, you need to come into the guidance office and put your name on our “I have a plan” board. Going to VC? A  4-year university?  Trade School?  Military? We want to know! Counseling

VC SUMMER & FALL REG FOR CURRENT 9TH-11TH GRADERS - current 10th and 11th graders may sign up for VC summer classes starting June 9th. Current 9th graders must wait until June 21st (first day of summer class) and obtain the instructor’s signature before registering. Fall registration for current 10th and 11th graders will start on August 9th and current 9th graders must wait until August 16th (first day of fall class) and obtain the instructor’s signature. See your BHS counselor for the VC registration paperwork. Lipman

ATTENTION SENIORS – Are you planning to attend college? One last thing to do!!!!!

For your final transcript: 1. Complete a transcript request card 2. Attach an envelope-important!!! A) Stamp & address your envelope to your college. B) Enclose an additional (loose) stamp for the receipt card that accompanies your transcript. 3. Leave your request care & envelope with Mrs. Aparicio, Records Office or ask your counselor.

Career Center

WORK EXPERIENCE – Do you have a paid job where you receive a paycheck/paystub?  Would you like to earn up to 10 credits towards your practical arts or graduation requirement? Does being able to work 6 hrs per day, as opposed to only 4 hrs a day, appeal to you? As a Junior or Senior would you like to have 5th and 6th period off each day? If you answered yes to any one of these questions, then Work Experience is for you!  See Mr. Yuncker in the Career Center or your counselor to obtain the form to get enrolled for next school year.  Yuncker

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP: BigSun Organization is offering a $500 scholarship to help athletes succeed in their academic pursuits.  All senior athletes can apply regardless of the sport they play.   A short essay is required answering the question, “How has your participation in sports affected the person you are becoming?”  More information is available on the website www.bigsunathletics.com.  Deadline is June 24, 2010. VENTURA COLLEGE PROMISE AND FAFSA:  If you are attending Ventura College under the “Ventura College Promise”, it is imperative that you fill out the FAFSA application.  If you don’t register with FAFSA, you will not qualify for the “V.C. SCHOLARSHIP FOR JUNIORS & SENIORS – Abbott & Fenner’s $1,000 Scholarship is available to all high school Juniors and Seniors.  Applicants must submit an essay of between 500 – 1,000 words on a specified topic. CONGRATULATIONS – To the Graduation speakers and singers!!!  Tori Winslow and Heather Chang will be speaking, Victoria Hahn will be singing the “National Anthem” and Isabel O’Higgins will sing “Don’t Forget to Remember Me”!!!!!

SENIORS: Make sure you clear your obligations in the ASB Store and the library.  Being on the obligation list will affect your ability to obtain your cap and gown or yearbook.  Not sure if you have an obligation?  Come by and ask.

OBLIGATIONS – Yearbook distribution is next week on Wednesday.  Any student that has a school obligation or library fine will have their yearbook withheld.  Avoid the last minute crowds and get your obligations cleared this week.  Obligations will not be cleared on the day of yearbook distribution.  Gonzales

CAFETERIA OBLIGATIONS – Please clear all obligations with the cafeteria as soon as possible!!!!

LIBRARY BOOKS – All books are due by FRIDAY!!  The last day the Library will be open for the year is this Friday!!  Get your books turned in!  Students with library & textbook fines will have their yearbooks withheld next week!  Gonzales

STUDENT LOCKERS - Please clean out your lockers before Thursday June 17th.  YOU MUST remove all your items, return books, and clean out your locker.  All items left in the lockers will be thrown away or given to the goodwill!

Lockers ARE NOT to be used for Summer School – combinations will be changed.Thank you.

TEAM LOCKERS – All athletes need to empty their Team Lockers by Wednesday June 9th.  On Thursday June 10th all items left behind will be donated.  Thank you!  Griffin

ENGLISH 128AP STUDENTS – If you are taking English 128AP next year, please attend a meeting in Rm. 34 at Lunch next week for summer reading.  Tuesday June 8th:  Last names beginning with letters A – L, Thursday June 10th:  Last names beginning with letters M – Z.  See Miss Everett in Rm. 23 or Mr. Mathers in Rm. 34 if you have any questions.

AP STATISTICS – If you are enrolled in AP Statistics next fall at Buena, stop by Mrs. Elrod’s room, 51, to pick up your Preliminary Packet of Stats materials and recommendations, (like what kind of calculator to get…etc..).  Elrod

AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE – If you are taking APES next year, please see Mr. Yorke in Rm. 121 before the end of the year!  Yorke

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – A few volunteers are needed who would like to log some Community Service hours.  These will not be for class credits, but would be a great thing to put on college applications, etc.  If you are interested, please see your Counselor in the Guidance Office.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE – Pool Party, Friday June 11th from 4 – 7pm!!!  Tickets are only $1.00, and can be purchased from Ms. R in Rm. 131.  Limited number of tickets are available….first come, first served!!  Resovsky

VUSD ‘OVER & OUT DANCE’ – This dance, sponsored by Grad Nite, will be held at the VC Fairgrounds on June 11th from 8:00 – 11:00pm.  Tickets are $10 pre-sale and $15 at the door.  This is an All-district dance, for all high school students.  ID’S ARE MANDATORY!!!!  You will not be given a ticket without your ID at the door!!!

ATTN SENIORS – Grad night tickets are now on sale in the StuStore. The last day to purchase grad nite tickets will be Tuesday, June 15th.  The price is now $30.00 and they will be $40.00 at the door!!!  Pick up your permission slip and when you bring it back you can purchase your tickets. Don’t miss out on this great celebration just for graduating seniors on June 17th.

PAWPRINT: The school literary magazine will be on sale starting Friday 5/21. This 150 page magazine with the works of about 100 students is only $5.00. What a keepsake! Lyans

OMEGA – Omega is this Friday from 7:00 – 10:00pm in the Buena Quad, hosted by Habakkuk.  There will be worship, a movie and fellowship!  Invite your friends and spread the Word!!!!  Janes
