Some students record their voices and sounds from their instruments using the recording studio or they make music using Mix Craft, a music program on the computers. There is also a program called Windows Movie Maker that allows students to make slide shows using titles and music for an amazing product.

Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program and fun competition open to all students. Students read from a list of 20 books and attend fun book talks on Tuesdays at lunch in the Library from September to February. The 2015 Battle competition will take place at Cabrillo Middle School at the end of February. Qualifying students from the four middle schools will be placed on randomly selected teams of four to five. All students will receive a Battle t-shirt, lunch, have the opportunity to hear a guest author, and win prizes. The competition is a round robin tournament with questions from all the books. The two top-scoring teams will be in the Final Round. The names of the winning team will be engraved on a perpetual trophy. Winning team members and lucky raffle winners receive gift certificates to local bookstores and medals or ribbons.
